A Year of Growth & Collaboration

As January rolls around, it often brings a sense of uncertainty for the freelance musician! I often find myself not quite ready to embark on a new year of experiences and challenges, so it helps if I've taken full stock of the past twelve months,

Looking back on 2024, it turned out to be remarkably rewarding and filled with opportunities to collaborate with incredibly talented artists across a diverse array of projects and musical styles.

Highlights of 2024

It's hard to pick out one particular highlight, but there is a shortlist!! Visiting Abbey Road is always exciting and challenging, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to record on several projects during the year, from the soundtrack to Beetlejuice 2 (working for Danny Elfman was an absolute joy!), more recording for Audiomachine through to having Studio 3 all to myself! The latter was the culmination of a working relationship that started over five years ago via AirGigs - my collaboration Fotis Georgiadis (AKA Beats Pliz) began in 2019, continued all the way through Covid and beyond. I recorded extensively for his best-selling album, 'Arte Povera', which has received millions of streams on Spotify... so When he invited me to record at Abbey Road for his next album I gladly accepted as it would be the first time we would actually meet in person! I thoroughly enjoyed The whole day in Studio 3, soaking in the atmosphere and marvelling at its rich musical history, and of course working in real time with Fotis and the excellent sound team there.

Reflecting on the year leaves me with a deep feeling of gratitude for each and every experience, and for the opportunity to continue exploring different artistic avenues with a constantly evolving client base.

Anticipating 2025...

Now, as I gently move into the new year (I like to take my time!), I'm starting to feel excited about what 2025 has in store. There should be something magical about the beginning of a new year — and so I try to keep an openness to new possibilities. I look forward to engaging with fresh talent, continued collaborations with existing clients and exploring new artistic directions. I hope to finally release an album of my own this year, and I'll be revisiting "Operation Butterfly" again in May to raise more funds for Butterfly Conservation. Beyond that, let's see!

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful New Year!
